Challenge
This entity operates public transit services in a large metropolitan area. With nearly three million people in its service district, close to 105 million “boardings” each year and an operating budget exceeding $460 million, it is an organization under a great deal of pressure to operate efficiently. This was amplified when Documentum’s Captiva capture product could not be successfully implemented.
Solution
The Buddha Logic team implemented a Kofax Capture (KC) Proof of Concept (POC) Batch Class (BC) environment in just two days. That undertaking proved how quickly a paper and electronic capture process could be implemented to populate the Documentum content repository. It also convinced the client to abandon Captiva and move ahead with KC.
Along the way, Buddha Logic and the client’s ECM project staff successfully tackled challenges involving the validation of Oracle nested value lookups, as well as integrations with Documentum, McClaren (an engineering application) and Prodagio (a contact tracking application).
The Buddha Logic team also created Kofax customizations including a library of reusable .NET functions that connect to Oracle and Documentum. Through that integration, drop-down lists are dynamically populated based on previous list selections. The functions also interact with an initialization file to obtain application constants, application variables and comprehensive user warnings and error messaging.
Results
After helping the client bring KC online in a fraction of the time spent on the prior product, Buddha Logic ensured that staff members were comfortable and productive with the new electronic document management system by training them on all aspects: installation, configuration, customization and administration.
